In Ethiopia, women lack information of sexual and reproductive health, pregnancy and abortion. They don´t know about their rights and options in case of unwanted pregnancy and are not aware of existing services. Because of that, they often undergo unsafe abortion procedure or give birth secretly and abandon their child. Women lack a comprehensive support in for them new situation.
Sexual and reproductive doulas (non-medical professionals) will be trained in five most vulnerable, hard-to-reach communities and assist women by providing support and guidance in family planning, pregnancy/unexpected pregnancy (information on SRH, available services, options, link women with services, help arranging transport, assists women emotionally, accompanying women to a health center). Besides that, five health center capacities will be enhanced.
